CONTRIBUTORS, WE INVITE YOU TO INTRODUCE YOURSELVES TO ONE ANOTHER

David Warlick:

I have been in the field of education for 30+ years, starting as a middle school social studies teacher.  I am currently working as a consultant, writer, blogger, podcaster, programmer and public speaker -- doing business as The Landmark Project.  My current interests are 21st century literacy, understanding, and finding and inventing applications for Web 2.0 applications, and video games as learning engines.

Ginger Jewell:

I've been in the field 28 years and I've been hooked on technology for 27 of them.  I've worked in rural, suburban and urban districts, in private and public settings, and as a university professor, so I've seen the issues from different perspectives.  I currently work in an economically disadvantaged urban school district.  My district won NSBA's national top technology using district award in 2004 and we've gone way beyond where we were when we won that, so we've proven that poverty is not a roadblock to good technology.  Right now my burning interest is gaming in the classroom, but I'm also heavily invested into MP3 players for learning and digital resources.

Dan Schmit:

I am an Apple Distinguished Educator, and have been working in education for about 15 years. I began my work as music educator and I have taught Kindergarten through high school.  I worked for the Nebraska Department of Education doing instructional technology staff development and software exploration for a couple of years before joining the University of Nebraska as an Instructional Technology Specialist.   Currently, I work with undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty on making constructive use of technology in their work.  I also produce a podcast, "KidCast: Podcasting in the Classroom", which is a companion to my book of the same name (http://www.intelligenic.com).  I'm also the "human" to my chihuahua, Jamal (the world's coolest chihuahua - http://www.jamaldog.com

My interests are focused on making creative and constructive use of technology for teaching and learning.

Conn McQuinn:

I am Director of the Educational Technology Support Center at Puget Sound Educational Service District, and when I'm not wishing for a shorter job title I coordinate a variety of educational technology support programs for school districts in the Seattle-Tacoma area of Washington state.  This includes many different workshops and institutes, consulting, technology planning, and exploring new technologies that hold ipotential for the classroom.  I started as a science teacher, and have been working with technology since the days of the original Apple ][ (not ][+ or ][e, mind you!).  I have the sometimes-critical eye of someone who has seen many cycles of enthusiasm and frustration impact ed tech.  I maintain a sporadic blog, write the IT Guy column for techLEARNING, and enjoy my work way too much for a grown-up.

Debbie Bohanan:

I am a Technology Coach at Reedy Creek Elementary in Kissimmee, Florida.  I have been in education for sixteen years, teaching 5th grade, 4th grade, and technology.  As the technology coach I have a unique opportunity to share my knowledge with other teachers and help them integrate technology into their curriculum.   I earned my National Board Certification in 2000 and am a STAR Discovery Educator, co-blogger for the DEN Florida Blog, an Intel Master Teacher, a Microsoft Peer Coach, and a lifelong learner. (in addition to my regular job).  I offer professional development to teachers and am very excited about sharing the newest tools for integrating technology in the classroom.

Charlene Chausis

I am the Technology Training and Integration Manager at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, IL, which means I am responsible for technology staff development for about 500 teachers and staff members. You may "see" me in places like Flickr, del.icio.us,  and Ning, as I am a strong believer in the power of collaborative technologies (wikis, social bookmarking, etc.) for the classroom. Google is fast becoming my favorite tool for educators (Google Earth, Blogger, Docs & Spreadsheets, oh my!) Visit my website and blog for tutorials and tips for integrating technology, and links to presentations I have given.

I am the Ed Tech Curriculum Specialist for the Saugus Union School District in Santa Clarita, California. We are an elementary school district with 15 schools and about 10,000 students.  I am responsible for assisting teachers and administrators with the integration of technology into the curriculum and understanding how technology fits into their curriculum for student achievement.  I plan and provide Technology Staff Development days for groups of schools, small group Incentive Workshops in various technology skills, and one on one coaching.  With the support of our IT Department both our teachers and our students have their own  community blog and podcasting sites.  Our school district has been recognized by THE Journal as a 2006 Innovator for our use of Open Source programs. As new technologies emerge I try to blend them into the curriculum and classroom.
